About The Comic

First of all, thank you for looking at my website and/or comic, I know it's a burden. Visiting means a lot to me.

This is one of two comics I draw, but this one is my pride and joy. I have always loved the Egyptian culture and with a little inspiration (I would put up the link, but I can no longer find the website) Ra's Tear was born. It may have been based on Egyptian culture, but it is based very loosely. Clothing is often very stylized and, depending on the planet, sometimes doesn't even hint it's origin. The one thing this comic's culture and the true ancient Egyptian culture have in common are the gods and goddesses, though even some of those are mine solely.

The Egyptian Pantheon is a hard one to map out. This is mostly because each city had its own interpretation of the myths. This is why there are so many creation myths, so many different versions of the creator/sun god (Ra, Amun, Amun-Ra, etc.). One of my favorites when explaining this is the goddess Sekhmet. She is the lion headed goddess of war and destruction, but there are many myths of who she is. One is that she is her own goddess, another is that she is the violent side of Bastet (or Bast), and there is even one where she is the violent side of Hathor. All these myths give me room to pick and choose as I wish, and I have done a lot of it. ^-^ It's part of what makes it so fun, but also so difficult.

Mythology has always been my thing so as you watch the story unfold you will probably notice I've screwed around with many relationships and attitudes of the gods... Well, who said they acted the same around each other as they did around mortals? Even with all that, I try to keep it as true to it's roots as possible... Sort of...
